Russian combat ship on anti-pirate duty

Severomorsk 619The Severomorsk Russian anti-sub destroyer set off at the head of an international caravan of vessels across the Gulf of Aden on Wednesday.

It will be guarding five merchant ships flying the flags of Cyprus, Malta, the Marshall Islands and Norway from pirates.

During its stay in the region of the Gulf of Aden and the Horn of Africa since the 17th of June The Severomorsk has escorted five caravans of 30 ships from many countries through the dangerous area.
