New subs to replace the Collins-class fleet may be delayed for years, a Defence think-tank warns.And more money needed to be spent on maintenance of the current fleet in the interim so they don't fall behind submarines from other Asia-Pacific nations.
The Kokoda Foundation paper warned that the number and capabilities of submarines in the region will grow rapidly over the next decade.
