The Czech Republic definitively joined NATO's Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) with the hoisting of the Czech flag at the headquarters of the special Boeing E-3 AWACS fleet at the air base in Geilenkirchen Tuesday.
This ceremony has symbolically concluded the accession process and the Czech Republic has become the 18th full member of the AWACS system, known also as NAEW&C (NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control system).
The E-3 A aircraft with the characteristic rotating radardome to detect aircraft guard also the Czech airspace thanks to the country's entry in the system.
