US to earmark $35mln for RS-22 missiles disposal


President Viktor Yanukovych has said the United States would allocate USD 35 million for a joint US-Ukrainian program on the disposal of RS-22 missiles at Pavlohrad Chemical Plant in Dnipropetrovsk region, east of Ukraine, he told reporters after the opening ceremony for a full-scale facility for hydro-mechanical removal of solid propellant from the intercontinental ballistic missiles RS-22 at the chemical plant.

According to Yanukovych, an agreement on the US financing of the disposal of solid propellant from the intercontinental ballistic missiles was reached during his meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama in April 2010.

The head of state noted that all the necessary equipment will be mounted and installed at the plant by 2013.
