Libya: RAF Typhoon fighters carry out first ever attack


RAF Typhoon fighters have carried out their first ever attack just 24 hours before a damning Parliamentary report on the aircraft is published.

Defence industry sources have called it "no coincidence" that the Typhoons dropped the two Paveway II bombs on two tanks as a Public Accounts Committee is expected to publish an excoriating report on the aircraft's procurement at midnight on Thursday.

The bombs were also dropped just after The Daily Telegraph reported that the RAF had been unable to use the aircraft in the ground attack role through lack of pilot training. At the time the Ministry of Defence unofficially admitted this was the case but hours later the attack took place.
