IMS Vikrant's makeover is on track

IMS VikrantFinally, the Indian Navy's most famous aircraft carrier Vikrant (now called IMS), has got two organizations vying to turn her into a maritime museum. Ambi Valley and Ackruti City have been shortlisted and they have plans to build a "culture centre" and a helipad.

Ashwini Bhide, additional commissioner of MMRDA, said, "The two parties prepared detailed proposals and have made presentations before officials of the navy, the state government and the municipal corporation."

The project is being done on a private public partnership (PPP) basis and is being undertaken by the Maharashtra Urban Infrastructure Development Company Limited (MUIDCL).
