Three nuclear subs coming right up!

Yury DolgorukySevmash shipyard outside Arkhangelsk plans to deliver three new nuclear-powered submarines to the navy in 2011, the shipyard’s director says.

Both the two giant shipyards Sevmash and Zvezdochka in Severodvinsk, the engineering capital in northern Russia, have full order books for 2011.

- Our production program for this year is extremely hard – we have to deliver three nuclear-powered submarines to the navy and send one aircraft carrier off to India for testing, said General Director at Sevmash Nikolay Kalistratov at a recent meeting in an interdepartmental working group on submarine production.
