Two Nimrod R1 spy planes are to be kept in service for at least another three months, crews have been told.The aircraft, which are based at RAF Waddington, had been due to retire on 31 March but will now continue in service until the end of June, according to the BBC.
The Nimrod R1s fill the signals intelligence role, and the report implies that the MoD may be considering using Nimrod's over Libya if military action is taken.
