New Hampshire, Connecticut subs take part in Arctic exercise

USS Connecticut (Seawolf class)The submarines USS New Hampshire and USS Connecticut are participating in the 2011 Ice Exercise in the Arctic Ocean, the Navy said Tuesday.

The two boats will test submarine operations in Arctic waters.

The New Hampshire (SSN 778) is the first Virginia-class submarine to participate in an ICEX. The submarine is homeported in Groton. The Connecticut (SSN 22), a Seawolf-class submarine, is based in Bremerton, Wash.
