Japan's Govt to OK U.S. transfers of missiles

SM-3The government will approve the transfer by the United States of next-generation antimissile missiles currently under joint Japan-U.S. development to third-party countries, The Yomiuri Shimbun has learned.

To that end, the government will compile criteria that would allow the United States to have the SM-3 Block IIA missiles deployed in Europe and other parts of the world.

The move is aimed at showing Japan's resolve to deepen its alliance with the United States, several government sources have revealed.
