Making Sense of Anglo-French Defense Rumors

Ark RoyalShock and dismay might best describe the British reaction to recent rumors that Britain and France have discussed the possibility that both navies share aircraft carriers.

Media reports of the proposal immediately touched off criticism from British military observers.

The arguments against the rumored plan ranged from declaring it unrealistic to decrying the steady erosion of Britain’s sovereignty under the European Union’s embrace.
