European Air Transport Command formed at Eindhoven

The European Air Transport Command (EATC) formally stood up yesterday at Eindhoven Air Base in the Netherlands, bringing together military transport and tanker aircraft from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France under a single command.
The new merged command aims to provide coordination and efficient deployment of over 200 military aircraft across Europe, and will focus on developing a joint doctrine, training and education, as well as equipment standardisation and maintenance of the fleet. All aircraft will continue to operate from their respective bases.
The first commander is Major General Jochen Both from Germany, who commands a staff of 200 personnel and controls 29 C-130 Hercules, 135 C-160 Transalls, 19 CASA CN235s, ten Airbus A310s, two Airbus A340s, two KDC-10s, one DC-10 and a variety of liaison and VIP types.
