Singaporeans Celebrate 45th National Day At Padang

Gulfstream 550 Airborne Early Warning (G550-AEW) AircraftA sea of red-attired Singaporeans from all walks of life thronged the Padang here Monday evening to celebrate the country's 45th National Day.

Thousands of the country's citizens and some specially invited foreign guests were entertained to nearly three hours of extravaganza, including a parade by Singapore's uniformed forces, and singing, choir and cultural dance performances by hundreds of local youths.

Present at the event were President S.R. Nathan, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and the island republic's cabinet ministers and local dignitaries.
