A new jewel for the navy as HMS Diamond heads for Portsmouth

HMS DaringDazzling, precision-cut and valuable - HMS Diamond is heading to Portsmouth to become a sparkling new addition to the Royal Navy fleet.

The Type 45 destroyer, the third of its class, has enjoyed successful trials in the rough seas off the coast of Scotland and will arrive in Portsmouth on September 22.

The £1bn warship will then raise the white ensign as she is commissioned into the fleet to join her sister ships HMS Daring and HMS Dauntless.
