A top military designer resigned after a test launch of Russia's newest strategic nuclear missile failed last week, the state space agency said on Wednesday.
The Bulava, Russia's first fully post-Soviet missile, is designed to carry 10 warheads up to 8,000 km. But six of 11 tests of the missile, designed by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology (MITT), have failed, media reports said.
"Yuri Semyonovich Solomonov has filed a letter asking to relieve him from combined duties of MITT's general director and general designer," Roskosmos spokesman Alexander Vorobyov said.
