Navy accepts delivery of Bush carrier

USS George W. Bush (CVN-77)The service on Monday officially accepted delivery of the George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier from Northrop Grumman Corp. after a brief standoff over a minor problem that surfaced after its final set of sea trials.

At a cost of roughly $6.26 billion, the carrier was commissioned in special status on Jan. 10 in Norfolk and on Monday became an official ship of the U.S. fleet.

The Bush is the 10th and final of the Nimitz class, all of which were built at the Newport News shipyard.
