Boeing scores $3 billion Air Force contract

C-17 Globemaster IIIBoeing Co. has won a contract worth up to $2.95 billion from the U.S. Air Force for 15 additional C-17 military cargo aircraft.

In a statement, Chicago-based Boeing (NYSE: BA) said the new contract “will keep C-17s moving down our production line until at least August 2010, even as we complete existing orders from the Air Force and our international customers.”

The contract was awarded to Boeing’s McDonnell Douglas unit.
