HMS Liverpool to sail on four years

A further four years of operational service are ahead for HMS Liverpool after a £6m contract for her upkeep was awarded to BVT Surface Fleet.

The Type 42 destroyer, which was built at Cammell Laird in 1982, has docked in Portsmouth for a maintenance programme of up to 10 months.

It will ensure she is able to continue to deliver her operational role as one of the Royal Navy’s Air Defence Destroyers.
