U.S. to withdraw Apache helicopters from S.Korea

The United States will withdraw Apache attack helicopters from South Korea in March and replace them with A-10 attack aircraft and MH-53 helicopters, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency quoted Seoul's defense ministry as saying on Sunday, Reuters reported.

The 24 Apache helicopters, to be replaced with 12 A-10 attack aircraft and two MH-53 helicopters, will be redeployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, it said.

The United States has 28,500 troops in South Korea, which is still technically at war with North Korea.
