Lockheed Martin to extend life of Canada's Auroras

The Canadian Department of National Defense has contracted Lockheed Martin to extend the life of the country's CP-140 Aurora maritime patrol aircraft.

U.S. company Lockheed Martin was awarded a $156 million contract as part of the P-3 Aircraft Service Life Extension Program. Under the deal, Lockheed Martin will provide life extension kits for 10 of Canada's CP-140 Aurora aircraft.

Officials say the life extension kits include new wing assemblies and stabilizer systems, among other improvements that are expected to add up to 25 more years of service reduced maintenance costs for the CP-140 fleet.
