UK firm to supply systems for destroyers

A leading British aerospace and defence electronics company has won a bid to supply undersea warfare sonar systems to the Australian navy's three air warfare destroyers.

The sonar system is designed to detect and track of submarines beyond their lethal range and provide defence against torpedoes.

Defence is replacing its Adelaide-class guided missile frigates with three Hobart class air-warfare destroyers (AWDs).
