Reports: Russia test-fires long-range ballistic missile

The Itar-Tass news agency reports Russia has given one of its intercontinental ballistic missiles a test flight. The Topol RS-12M was launched from northern Russia.

The report says the Topol intercontinental ballistic missile was launched by a joint team of strategic purpose missile troops and space troops.

The test was done to confirm the stability of the basic technical parameters of the missile in the period of its extended service life and to practice combat equipment intended for ground-based ballistic missiles.
