Submarine refit was £300million well spent

Devonport Dockyard's skilled workforce has been labelled as 'the best in the world' by project managers after the completion of a £300million submarine refit, writes Herald defence reporter Tristan Nichols.

Managers of the project yesterday heaped praise on the specialist workforce following the relaunch of the nuclear-powered submarine HMS Victorious after a three-and-a-half-year refit.

Speaking at the launch, Roger Hardy, Babcock Marine's director of submarines, said there was 'no better advert' for the city's ability.
