USS Sea Dragon set to sail

The cutter will protect seven submarines at Kings Bay

The USS Sea Dragon is one of 67 built in the Coast Guard's current class of cutters.

Although it may look the same as 66 others, the vessel's mission is unique, at least for the time being.

Commissioned Monday in a ceremony at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base, its new home port, the cutter will have one responsibility: to provide protection for seven submarines as they depart or arrive at Kings Bay.
