Morocco opts for Dutch corvettes

Despite the signing last October of a letter of intent with DCNS to build a FREMM, according to our information, Morocco has opted for its original plan of three Dutch corvettes.

The yard De Schelde, in Flushing, has commissioned six 20 Pielstick diesel engines PA 6 B STC 11,015 hp (8100 kW), to equip three Moroccan ships, it was learned yesterday from industrial sources.

The Ship Integrated Geometrical Modularity Approach (SIGMA)type, these corvettes will be derived from four units ordered by Indonesia and whose head of series, the Diponegoro, became operational in July 2007.
