Canadian sub contract still on track, minister says

A billion-dollar submarine maintenance contract for Victoria, believed to have sunk under the weight of East Coast lobbying pressure, is on track to conclude in the new year, says Natural Resources Minister Gary Lunn.

"We are only negotiating with the successful winner, which is the West Coast," the Conservative Saanich-Gulf Islands MP told the Times Colonist.

"I've said very clearly a contract [request for proposals] was put out there and it was won fair and square, and now we're dealing with the detailed negotiations."
