Taipei Vows Not To Fire New Cruise Missile Without Washington Approval

A cruise missile under development in Taiwan would never be fired without Washington's permission.

The supersonic Hsiung-feng 3 (Brave Wind) ship-to-ship missile cruise missile "will only be used tactically, that is, in self-defense... and it will only be used if the US gives its approval," Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian said Tuesday, the Taipei Times reported.

Taiwan decided against displaying it during a national day military parade in early October because of US objections.
