The air force announced yesterday that two Orions stationed in the Middle East were being adapted to allow them to beam live images to commanders below. That could include, for example, video of a house about to be raided.
The Orions still conduct ocean surveillance, but spend 60 per cent of their time engaged in intelligence gathering, surveillance and reconnaissance over Iraq.
