Sweden, Norway Reach Industrial Cooperation Agreement
Sweden and Norway have signed a pivotal industrial cooperation deal on the JAS Gripen fighter that officials say creates a level playing field for the Gripen to compete for the $8 billion contract to supply new-generation fighters to the Norwegian Air Force (NAF).
“This industrial cooperation agreement with Sweden ... ensures the selection process works better in terms of efficiency,” Norwegian Defense Minister Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen said in a statement.
The memorandum of understanding between the two countries was signed May 7 in Oslo by Strøm-Erichsen and Swedish Defense Minister Mikael Odenberg.
