Czech military to receive Airbus in January

The Czech military will receive the new Airbus-A-319 CJ plane that is to replace the obsolete Tu-154s in January, and not in December, as was planned previously, Karel Burger from the Prague Kbely air base told journalists today.

Although the aircraft is ready, the equipment of its interior by experts in Hamburg has been delayed, he said.

The replacement is part of the renewal of the military transport fleet that was approved by the government last April. The army will receive one more plane next September and it will pay about three billion crowns for both planes.

The military intends to sell the Tu-154s whose life span will soon expire and with it the era of the Soviet-built Tupolev aircraft will end in the Czech military.
