World powers condemn North Korea on missile test

The UN security council is to meet urgently today (5 July) after North Korea test-fired a long-range missile and five shorter-range rockets early Wednesday morning local time.

France holds the council Presidency since 1 July and will chair the debate.

Japan, Russia and the US already sounded grave concerns, with the White House strongly condemning the "missile launches and North Korea's unwillingness to heed calls for restraint from the international community."
