Orbit lands defense contract

Electrical components manufacturer Orbit International Corp. said Wednesday that it has struck a $700,000 deal to make cockpit devices for the Swedish military.

The cockpit mission console equipment will be used in the P-3 Maritime Patrol Aircraft, used by the Swedish Coast Guard, according to Orbit. The Hauppauge-based company is performing the work for an unidentified contractor, and Orbit said additional orders for the contractor could push total Orbit sales on P-3s above $1.1 million.
