UK: Ceremony to rededicate navy ship

The warship HMS Cornwall has been rededicated in the county on Saturday after a comprehensive refit.

The ceremony took place at County Wharf in Falmouth, the same place she was commissioned in 1988 by the ship's sponsor, Diana Princess of Wales.

HMS Cornwall, which was refitted at Devonport, is the first of the Batch 3 Type 22 frigates and is the lead ship of the Second Frigate Squadron.

Lady Mary Holborow, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, attended the blessing.

To mark the occasion sailors from the ship have taken part in a 100-mile charity run and row from her base port in Plymouth to Falmouth.

The money raised will go to the Sennen children's ward at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
