STRATFORD, Conn., Dec. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sikorsky Aircraft
announced today the signing of a contract with Thales to jointly develop a new cockpit for the S-76D helicopter planned for delivery at the end of 2008.
Sikorsky is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation.
Sikorsky's teaming agreement with Thales was first announced at the September 2005 Helitech trade show. Thales is an international electronics and systems group, serving defense, aerospace, services and security markets.
The group employs 60,000 people worldwide and generated revenues of 10.3 billion in 2004.
Mick Maurer, vice president commercial programs, Sikorsky Aircraft and Phil Naybour, vice president helicopter solutions, Thales, signed the contract. High-level executives and Program teams from both companies attended the signing ceremony.
"Sikorsky is pleased to cement its relationship with Thales as a team-mate, as it offers outstanding technological capabilities and has the agility to adapt to rapidly changing avionics requirements in the market-place," said Maurer.
