Defense Minister José Bono is to act on behalf of the Spanish government during execution in Caracas of a bilateral military cooperation agreement providing for the sale of Spanish aircrafts and patrol boats to Venezuela, a deal opposed by the United States administration, said Friday the Spanish second vice-president María Teresa Fernández de la Vega.
"The government is to attend the initialization, and it is to be represented at the agreement execution by the Defense Minister," said Fernández de la Vega.
Last March, Spain agreed to sell to Venezuela 10 C-295 transportation airplanes, two CN-235 surveillance aircrafts, four coast patrol boats, and four frigates manufactured by aeronautical firm CASA-EADS and naval shipyards Navantia for USD 2 billion, AFP reported.
