Pentagon delays destroyer purchase decision

WASHINGTON, Nov 10 (Reuters) - A top Pentagon panel put off a decision for now on whether to move ahead with a new U.S. Navy destroyer being co-developed by Northrop Grumman Corp. (NOC.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and General Dynamics (GD.N: Quote, Profile, Research), a Navy official said.

"The Navy will continue to provide analysis and data" so that Pentagon decision-makers "have all the necessary information to make a decision" on how best to acquire the destroyer, known as DD(X), said Capt. Thomas Van Leunen, a Navy spokesman.
