Jakarta (VNA) - Singapore and Malaysia are conducting a joint exercise in the Malacca Straits to ensure security in the region, local newspapers reported on November 24.
The exercise from November 23-30, code named "Ex Malapura", will promote mutual understanding and enhance inter-operability, and reflect the close naval cooperation and long-lasting defence relations between the two countries, according to the two navies' joint statement.
Singapore dispatched a missile corvette, a missile gun boat and an anti-submarine patrol vessel, while the Malaysian navy contributed a corvette and two fast attack missile crafts.
This is the 17th joint exercise between the two navies since 1984.
