Norway plans increased defense procurement spending

F-35 Lightning IIProcurement of aircraft and other technologies for Norway's military in 2014 is set at $1.83 billion, about 25 percent of its proposed defense budget.

The budget, which needs approval from parliament, was released Monday by the Ministry of Defense.

"The budget for defense procurements is kept at a high level," the ministry said. "The majority will be spent on already ongoing projects to implement the defense structure in the new long-term (defense) plan.
