Aegis tower lifted onto Australia's Hobart Destroyer

Hobart class destroyerThe main radar tower for the first of Australia's three Air Warfare Destroyers, Hobart, has been successfully lifted into position, Minister for Defence Senator David Johnston announced on Tuesday.

He confirmed that progress on the Hobart was well advanced, with the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Alliance successfully lifting the Aegis tower onto the ship structure.

The Royal Australian Navy is marking 100 years since it first steamed into Sydney Harbour. Warships around the globe have sailed to participate in the International Fleet Review (IFR) which is being held from 3rd to 11th October.
