
The U.S. Missile Defense Agency's proposed budget for fiscal 2016 includes continued funding support for "the TPY-2 radar as part of our forward-deployed THAAD battery in Guam," said the agency's director, Vice Adm. James D. Syring, in a Feb. 2 press briefing on the fiscal 2016 budget proposal at the Pentagon, a transcript of the briefing states.
The truck-mounted Terminal High Altitude Area Defense missile interceptor, or THAAD, was moved to Guam in April 2013 after North Korea mentioned Guam, and specifically Andersen Air Force Base, among potential targets of a missile attack.
