North-South Korea Missile Rivalry Heats Up With U.S. PAC-3 Deal

Patriot PAC-3The rivalry between North and South Korean on acquisition of missiles is getting ever more curious – and intense.

South Koreans don’t care for THAAD, the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense pushed by the Pentagon, but Yonhap, the South Korean news agency, reports the State Department is approving the sale of 136 PAC-3 missiles to South Korea at a cost of $1.405 billion.

The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency reportedly explained its approval of the sale as “meeting the legitimate security and defense needs of an ally and partner nation.”
