China tests S-300PMU-2 missile

S-300PMU-2An air defense brigade of the People's Liberation Army in the Jinan Military Region test-fired its S-300PMU-2 surface-to-air missile introduced from Russia on May 2, according to our sister paper Want Daily.

China Military Online, the official website operated by the PLA, published a photo of the exercise taking place in the Bohai Sea region. Designed based on the S-300PMU-1, the S-300PMU-2 has a range of between three to 200 kilometers and is capable of intercepting targets at between 10 and 27,000 feet.

The report indicates that the S-300PMU-2 has between an 80%-93% chance of intercepting enemy aircraft successfully. For enemy cruise missiles, it has a success rate of between 80%-98%.
