Russia and India are negotiating construction of new frigates - CAWAT

INS Teg (Project 11356)Russia and India are negotiating construction of three additional frigates for the Indian Navy and the lease of a second nuclear submarine, RIA Novosti learned from a spokesperson of the Center for Analysis of World Arms Trade (CAWAT).

“Negotiations are under way on the construction of three frigates of the Project 11356 Admiral Grigorovich Class for the Indian Navy at the Yantar Baltic Shipbuilding Plant.

The Government of India is also considering leasing a second Russian nuclear submarine, after the first nuclear submarine of the Project 971 Akula Class (formerly Nerpa, Chakra) enters service with the Indian Navy,” said the representative of CAWAT.
